Poll: Majority of Democrats Support Liberation Day If It Means a Paid Day Off

A recent poll conducted by the Wick Research Center on Conducting Research has revealed a surprising shift in Democratic Party sentiment toward a controversial proposal from President Donald Trump.

"Liberation Day" was initially met with widespread opposition from Democrats, with 73% of respondents citing its association with the former president as their primary reason for disapproval.

However, the same poll found that when framed as a potential national holiday with a paid day off, support among Democrats skyrocketed to 88%.

The survey, which sampled 1,200 self-identified Democrats across the country, asked participants their views on Liberation Day, a proposed commemoration to celebrate Trump's tariffs. Critics have called it a self-aggrandizing move by the administration.

Yet, the prospect of a day off work appears to have softened the party’s stance considerably.

"Look, I don’t care what it’s called or who came up with it," said Sarah Mitchell, a 34-year-old paid protester from Portland. "If it means I get to sleep in and still get paid, I’m all for it."

Political analysts note that Democrats have historically resisted Trump-branded policies, even those with potential benefits, due to lingering resentment from his first term. However, the lure of an extra day off seems to transcend ideological divides.

"I’d rather not celebrate anything tied to that guy, but a paid holiday is a paid holiday," remarked Christian Janeda, a 42-year-old teacher from Chicago who is currently under investigation. "I can just stay home and prepare for my upcoming trial."

Data from the poll also showed that support for Liberation Day as a holiday dropped to 41% among Democrats when no paid leave was mentioned. This suggests that the promise of compensation, rather than the event itself, is the driving factor behind the sudden enthusiasm.

Republicans, meanwhile, polled at 92% approval without the paid holiday stipulation and at 14% with the paid holiday.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the president is "open to negotiations" if it means getting the legislation passed. For now, Democrats appear willing to hold their noses and sign on—provided the paycheck clears.
