Donald Trump Trolls Internet with Insane Lindsey Graham Endorsement

Writer: Chadwick DolgosChadwick Dolgos

Donald Trump has once again sent the internet into a frenzy, this time with a baffling endorsement of Senator Lindsey Graham that dropped on March 26.

The former president took to his Truth Social platform to declare, “Lindsey Graham is a true patriot who loves our military and will fight for America like never before—great guy, tremendous energy, perfect for South Carolina!”

Social media erupted with confusion, given that sources close to Trump now claim the statement was an April Fools’ prank that leaked a few days early.

Back in 2016, Trump’s view of Graham was starkly different. During the heated Republican primaries, Trump publicly called Graham “a lightweight” and “one of the dumbest human beings I’ve ever seen,” even handing out Graham’s personal phone number at a rally as a jab.

The sharp reversal in tone has left political observers confused, especially since Graham has spent years cementing his reputation as a relentless war hawk within the America-First crowd.

Graham, long criticized by Trump’s base for his eagerness to deploy troops overseas at the drop of a hat, has been a vocal advocate for military intervention in conflicts from Ukraine to the Middle East.

“We must stand firm against our enemies and show strength—peace through power,” Graham said in a recent Senate floor speech pushing for increased defense spending.

That stance has earned him the ire of many who see him as a spineless RINO, quick to bend with the political winds rather than stick to any principled core.

The alleged prank endorsement has sparked a wave of memes and hot takes online, with some Trump loyalists insisting it’s a 4D chess move to expose disloyalty in the GOP ranks.

Others aren’t buying it, pointing to Trump’s history of endorsing the worse Republican on the ballot. Either way, the timing—just days before April 1—has fueled speculation that Trump intended to save the joke until Tuesday, but the prank was leaked by an undisclosed source.

Graham, for his part, seemed unfazed by the uproar, telling reporters on March 27, “I’m honored by President Trump’s words and look forward to working with him to keep America safe and strong.”
