Rodgers Refuses to Back Down

The one frustration I have is that throughout all of this there hasn’t been any conversation about health.“

-Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not standing down from cancel culture, and it’s about time we all listen to the call from his playbook. During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show," Rodger wore an anti-cancel culture hoodie to express his current frustrations with the NFL and society in general. Rodgers was recently put on the mob’s trial after admitting he’s not vaccinated but telling NFL officials and fans that he’s “immunized.” Outrage grew exponentially after referred to the woke mob as “the woke mob.”

I have already covered Rodgers’ controversy in the past, and I’m glad to see that he’s not giving up the fight. To some of the elites, power is everything. They will do or say anything they need to maintain their celebrity status. Some celebrities, like Rodgers, are level-headed. He knows that as a quarterback in the NFL, he does not have the expertise to dictate down to us what we should do in regards to public health.

Other celebrities are not so down to earth. Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah spent the entirety of the first year of the pandemic demanding that we stay home, somehow forgetting that many of us don’t live in luxurious homes packed with things to occupy our time. Other celebrities must have forgotten about all the grocery store workers, gas station employees, and millions of nurses that didn’t have the option to stay home because they depend on their jobs. Rodgers doesn’t tell people how to live their lives, nor should we ever take health advice from an NFL quarterback.

Joe Rogan, who is literally the most popular podcaster to date, completely changed his positions due to the insane calls from the radicals on the left. Prior to the pandemic, Rogan was a Bernie Sanders supporter. I would put money down and guess that he will likely be voting for whoever the Republican candidate is in 2024. He has adamantly hosted guests who hold different positions regarding the pandemic in an effort to illustrate to his listeners that there are different sides to every argument.

In the land of the free and home of the brave, we are sacrificing our rights out of fear. The mob is after Rodgers because he does not repeat the dictated script. The mob let Chris Cuomo survive for as long as he did because he’s nothing but an echo chamber for their narrative. If the participants of cancel culture expect us to take them seriously, perhaps they’d consider refocusing their time, energy, and resources on people who truly don’t deserve the national spotlight.

Lastly, we need to stop worshipping the words of celebrities. Celebrities don’t gain public status because they’re experts in all social, political, and economic issues. There are people who study these areas in-depth in order to determine best practices. Just because Leonardo DiCaprio wants us to address climate change doesn’t mean we must listen. He has his own time, energy, and resources to use towards progressing his agenda. We’re not here to do their dirty work.
