Stop Telling People to "Get Vaccinated"

The conversation is far more complex and complicated than most Americans wish to admit. Ignoring the risks of myocarditis and "sudden death" is doing little to restore faith in the federal government's attempt to mandate.

It’s hard to understand why so many people are adamant about others getting vaccinated. Since the vaccine’s inception, there has already been a booster added and a fourth shot in the works. Many people who have been fully vaccinated, by the federal government’s definition, continue to contract various variants of COVID-19. Who is this vaccine protecting if those vaccinated are not immune to the “deadly” virus?

Vaccine creators such as Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson are making a killing off of forced vaccine mandates. While the vaccines are technically “free” to the American people, nothing in the world is free. There are always strings attached. We may not be paying upfront when we go to the pharmacy, but that’s because the government has already purchased a large number of doses with our taxpayer money.

Mandatory vaccines were once seen as a conspiracy theory circulated by right-wing radicals. Now, being vaccinated is the expected way of life. “For the unvaccinated, you’re looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm.” Instead of attempting to clear the air and actually combat what his administration deems “COVID misinformation,” the White House instead turned to the old liberal tactic of instilling fear in those who disagree with their national narrative.

I am not vaccinated. Originally, I wanted to wait until there was more data available before getting vaccinated. As a healthy, 29-year-old male who has had COVID-19, I never found a compelling enough reason to get vaccinated. My employers don’t require the vaccines, and I don’t care to attend any events that do. I have missed out on experiences of a lifetime because the venues or performers require proof of vaccination. While I absolutely despise that this is how the new world works, I refuse to stand down just to be able to participate in their society.

I am by no means anti-vaccination. If you are somebody who falls into the risk categories identified by credible doctors, I’d recommend getting vaccinated. COVID-19 is real and is deadly when contracted by older populations or populations with pre-existing conditions. Getting vaccinated is a medical choice, and only the individual should be able to decide what they put into their bodies.

I am extremely opposed to forced government mandates. Our government is not composed of medical experts who have been studying viruses for their entire careers. Instead, we elect politicians using a popularity contest we refer to as “democracy.” Credible experts have been effectively silenced by elected politicians for disagreeing with their promoted narrative. Why are we silencing the real experts and listening to those who successfully managed to get elected?

Whether or not you’re vaccinated is a choice that should be left up to you alone to decide. There may be risks involved in choosing to not get vaccinated. These are risks you assume when making your decision. Nobody else has the ability to guide your life in the direction you’re meant to go. The government knows this, and that’s why they are using your employers, your family, and your loved ones to push you to make a decision you don’t want to make.

I encourage everybody, vaccinated or not, to start doing their own independent research. The media controls the information, but there are a number of credible medical experts speaking out online, attempting to put the facts forward. These people have nothing to gain and everything to lose. While Dr. Anthony Fauci may be the highest paid government official, this does not mean he’s the only credible doctor in America. In fact, politics seem to be driving his poor decisions. We need scientists who actually care about the hard science, not people who use science to appease the political establishment.
